Karla Kahler
Karla Kahler MA, MFT is a licensed and Psychology Today verified marriage and family therapist (MFT 43405) practicing psychotherapy at multiple locations in the San Fernando Valley (Sherman Oaks, CA and Tarzana, CA).
Karla’s approach to therapy varies depending on the unique needs of each client. She believes in working collaboratively with you to identify areas of concerns and goals for therapy.
Karla primarily applies cognitive-behavioral therapy which is scientific-based and focuses on the present and the development of coping skills. In addition, she also integrates mindfulness techniques and looking at the impact of early childhood attachments and family experiences on your current functioning.
While she emphasizes active listening, Karla’s approach is highly interactive where patients are often provided with feedback and recommendations. She specializes in working with people struggling with:

- Infertility/pregnancy loss

Experience
Karla’s years of life-experience, study of psychology and mental health, and thousands of hours of psychotherapy and counseling clients of all kinds has taught her a very humanistic and compassionate form of therapy, and one most clients find both nurturing and empowering.
Karla attended Pepperdine University for her graduate coursework and advanced degree.
In addition to her private practice, Karla has worked at a cross-section of community mental health organizations, including AIDS Project Los Angeles and St. Anne’s Maternity Home. She has been a clinical supervisor for 10 years to MFT interns and trainees and has 15+ years of experience as a psychotherapist.
